Baralaba Mine - Environmental Approvals (State and Federal)
Project Location: Alberta/Baralaba, Queensland
Project Description: The client was intending to further develop the mine beyond the production rate of their existing expansion project and
was seeking approval through the submission of a voluntary Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act 1994. Initial progress on the EIS was
to focus on the required seasonal technical studies, including terrestrial ecology. The scope of works was to address the wet and dry season field survey and associated reporting. Two staged
terrestrial ecology investigations, by means of a desktop review and targeted field investigations, were undertaken. The scope of work was based on the standard ecological requirements
outlined in the Department of Environment Heritage and Protection, EIS Generic Draft Terms of Reference.
